The Transcaucasian Federation was abolished on May 26, 1918, and at the same time the independence of Georgia was
proclaimed. After 117 years of Russian rule, the Georgian state revived . The party leader of the Social Democrats, Noe Zhordania, became the leader of the first coalition government. The Georgian state started with many economic problems and food shortages. In 1920 Georgia was also internationally recognized by natural Germany, but also by England, Italy and France. On 7 May 1920, the Russians recognized Georgian independence.
